Life in slow motion.

I find it interesting how much of life is a distinct contradiction - how often we distract ourselves from an important priority at hand, or how we push away creative pursuits we enjoy the most. We choose the easy route - often the task with superficial indicators to validate benchmarks of “success” - because it’s viable. It’s safe. We crumple the more intimidating goals into our back pocket, saved as an after-thought for later. We don’t want to face ourselves.

Amid being stripped to the core of minimal (strictly virtual) social interaction, we find value beyond compare in empathy and human connection, fully acknowledging the imperative weight all of our relationships carry. Before the pandemic hit, we once longed for a chance to slow down, catch our breath and see life through a slowed, unfiltered lens, which is paradoxical to the restless energy we typically surround ourselves with. We navigated our day-to-day obligations on autopilot, and now, with an indefinite amount of time and space - we can’t escape what we longed to run away from in the first place.

On that note - why are we, as humans, prone to always wanting the opposite of what we currently have?

I promise the next post will be less inquisitive, more uplifting! Will share some WFH tips + what’s helped me stay active and sane so far.
